Kristin painted this piece, alternately named “Veridis Quo,” en plein air on the bank of the Sauk River, in the Bedal Campground in the Pacific Northwest. The star of the painting, a young hemlock, competes in the dense rainforest for space, with a yellow cedar (right) and a Douglas fir tree (left). In the foreground, a young aspen and a delicate daffodil frame the forest scene.
